Wanted to see if mic picked up differences. 3 licks, repeated for each tone bar. Tried to replicate as best as possible.
I have my thoughts, but figured I'd leave off any commentary.
Except for one: The lack of a sharp edge on the Shubb didn't bother me in the recording as much as I thought it would while actually playing lick #2.
Anyhow, maybe this helps someone in the hunt for a premium bar...or not.

Originally posted by joebeeThanks for doing the comparison. I expected they'd be pretty much the same except for hand feel for the player. I am surprised that the Shubb didn't make for trouble for you on those pulloffs. Again, thanks. Good job!
Thanks. Yeah, the Shubb does pulloffs fine, you just need to press down and snap back a bit more than the sharper-edged bars. The downside with the Shubb (for me) is it's harder to do clean slants due to the extra length, based on how I use the thumb and index to pivot the bar. Hard to explain, but clearly my intonation is way off in lick #3 with the Shubb.
Agree it comes down to hand feel for the player.
I probably need to snag a Tipton to complete my personal collection...lol.
