I found out that we have a Magslide that allows for thinner strings. To get a good sound on a Resonator Guitar w/ Lighter strings, the cone would have to be shaved down.
Like most of us here, I'm mainly a lap style player when it comes to slide, and I had never heard of MagSlide. They are made of magnesium and look really nice.
Though I'm confused about the idea of shaving down the cone to get good sound with lighter strings. How does one go about it?
The discussion linked from the archives didn't shed any light on it for me.

Sorry, I still don't get it.
Are you referring to a spider bridge guitar or a biscuit bridge guitar? In the link you posted from the archives the discussion was about string gauges for roundneck spider bridge guitars to be played standard ("Spanish") style, or with a bottleneck slide.
Modern aluminum alloy dobro spider bridge cones are already very delicate and practically paper thin - I have never heard of anyone "thinning" a cone since there isn't much material to work with to begin with. Sometimes around the edge of the cone we may have to trim some off some material because it might be too tight a fit to sit on the wooden ledge properly in certain guitars. But the cone really can't be any thinner than it already is. And on for example a $90 Beard Legend cone, it rings like a bell if you suspend it on a string from the center hole and tap it with something like a pencil. No need for any modification.
Need more details...
